About Bad Trip Report and who publishes it
Who publishes Bad Trip Report, how the help pages are researched and checked, why product links go to Dutch-Smart, and what this site does not do.
Bad Trip Report is published by the team behind the Dutch smartshop Dutch-Smart. The product links on this site go to Dutch-Smart, and when you buy through such a link, the shop earns from the sale. We say this first because it matters for how you read the rest.
Why this site exists
People search for help with bad trips at the worst possible moment: at night, on a phone, often frightened or looking after a frightened friend. Much of what turns up is long, scattered or written to sell something. We wanted one calm help centre that answers the practical questions first, with sources, and that is honest about the parts that have nothing to do with sales: when to call an ambulance, why not to take a "trip killer", and when to see a doctor.
How the pages are put together
- Practical steps come from public harm reduction and health services: FRANK in the UK, DRUGSinfo and the Drugs Infolijn of the Trimbos Institute in the Netherlands, the NHS, and peer support organisations such as the Fireside Project and the Zendo Project.
- Numbers about bad trips come from published research, such as the Challenging Experience Questionnaire (Barrett et al. 2016) and the survey of 1,993 people by Carbonaro et al. (2016). Every study is linked where we use it.
- Laws are checked against the legal texts or official summaries, with the date we checked them.
- The composite account on the trip sitting page is built from recurring patterns in published reports. It is labelled as such and describes no real person. We do not publish testimonials or reviews.
- We make no medical or health claims, and nothing on this site is medical advice. In an emergency, call 112, 999 or 911.
Every page shows when it was last updated. If something is out of date or wrong, Dutch-Smart's customer service can pass it on to us.
Products on this site
We show Dope or Nope reagent tests, because knowing what a substance is comes before everything else on this site. We show magic truffles only for a stay in the Netherlands, where they are legal, and only as a guide from mild to strong. Descriptions of products are the shop's own descriptions. Product cards and prices come straight from the shop's catalogue. The site is for adults (18+).
Who is behind the shop

Dutch-Smart is a Dutch smartshop that has been around since 2011. It ships from the Netherlands and sells only to adults.
